Court Petition Filed Against Saba Qamar
Pakistani television star Saba Qamar has found herself at the centre of a legal controversy after a petition was filed against her for allegedly wearing a police uniform without official permission during a video shoot. The petition seeks the registration of a case, claiming that the use of an official police outfit without authorisation violates existing rules.
The matter has been brought before a local court at a time when Saba Qamar is receiving widespread praise for her emotionally powerful performance in Geo Entertainment’s hit drama Case No 9.
Details of the Court Hearing
The petition was heard by Lahore Additional Sessions Judge Ilyas Rehan, following objections raised over a video circulating on social media. According to the petitioner, Wasim Zawar, Saba Qamar can be seen in a dressing room wearing a police uniform along with an SP-rank badge. He argued that such attire requires a no-objection certificate (NOC) from police authorities.
The petitioner also told the court that he had earlier approached the Old Anarkali police station to register a complaint, but no action was taken. After preliminary arguments, the court has adjourned the hearing until January 14.
Ongoing Success of Case No 9
Despite the controversy, Case No 9 continues to receive strong audience response. Airing every Wednesday and Thursday, the drama has been appreciated for its realistic and sensitive portrayal of sexual violence and legal struggles. Saba Qamar plays Sehar, a courageous woman fighting for justice against a powerful businessman, portrayed by Faisal Qureshi.
Veteran actor Atiqa Odho has also publicly praised Qamar’s performance, calling it natural, effortless, and deeply moving.
