Mubashir Luqman Criticizes Atif Aslam Over Flag Controversy

Mubashir Luqman, a senior Pakistani journalist and TV host, has worked with leading news channels such as Express News, ARY News, Bol TV, and others. He also runs his own YouTube channel, Mubashir Luqman Official, where he shares his views on political and social issues. Known as a pro-establishment figure, he has even served as Punjab’s caretaker minister for information technology, communication, and works in 2007.

Recently, Mubashir Luqman appeared in an interview with Naeem Hanif for RNN News, where he strongly criticized popular singer Atif Aslam. During the discussion, Luqman alleged that Atif refused to hold the Pakistani flag during a concert abroad and hinted at the singer planning to settle outside Pakistan. He went as far as to curse Atif, questioning his loyalty to the country.
Quoting his words, Luqman said: “See Pakistani artists, recently Atif Aslam has refused to hold the Pakistani flag on stage because he is soon shifting from Pakistan. Now, if you won’t curse such a man, then what else would you do?”

The interviewer, Naeem Hanif, also joined in, comparing Atif to Indian singer Arijit Singh. He pointed out that Arijit proudly entered a concert arena with over 68,000 people carrying the Indian flag and chanting “India – India.” In contrast, he claimed that during a concert in New York, when someone offered Atif Aslam the Pakistani flag, he refused to hold it and pushed the person away. Hanif concluded with harsh remarks, saying, “Curse to him from us.”
These statements have since gone viral, sparking debates on social media. Many are questioning whether Atif’s alleged actions were misunderstood, while others are discussing the broader expectations placed on celebrities as representatives of their countries.
